Last week we reported that Independent Investment Research (IIR) named Glennon Small Companies Limited (GC1) as the best performer over the year to 30 July 2018. The average return from their mid-small cap LMI coverage universe for the period was 13.9%. Our performance, at 27.6%, was significantly higher than the average.
This week we are pleased to provide some information from Macquarie Wealth Management’s Research Division on Listed Investment Companies. Their August report shows that, for the 12-month period to 30 June 2018, GC1 was the best performing LIC in the Australian Equities space.
The chart below shows movements in pre-tax NTA year on year, including cash dividend payments.

The report also positions GC1 comparatively high in terms of total shareholder return – which combines the movement in pre-tax NTA, premiums/discounts and dividend payments.
